Rogue P3 PvP BIS & FAQ (Gemming/Stealth Items/Alternative Gear)

Video version of this guide:

I really liked how Mir and Uzb customized their omnibar enemy cooldown timers into 3 bars with timers (interrupts/cc/long cd), but there wasn’t an easy copy profile option for omnibar and it wasn’t quite as customizable as I wanted while requiring me to install multiple add-ons.

I decided to just re-create a few versions of them in weakauras with my own small additions/changes.

Version 1 (clean/no spell names):

Version 2 (spell names added – a lot easier for newer players):

Version 3 (player names added instead – was requested by some patrons):

Rogue P3 BIS Gear

Note: P3 has a lot of sidegrade/alternative choices, so the seventy upgrades links below don’t really show all the choices (watch the video if you want a more detailed rundown)

These are sorted into absolute full bis vs. realistic/easier to attain bis. Some options like rings and engy items are going to be situational/to be decided still, so I talk about those options in the next section of this guide.

As always, gemming/alternate gear choices are going to vary depending on the player/comp (more aggressive dps vs. resilience and survivability).

Seventyupgrades link (note yellow gemming is done roughly due to hit % constantly changing based on sidegrade picks – ideally you’d not gem hit past your desired point): https://seventyupgrades.com/set/7tYMcLhxEwmHax7UBsSpJv

Useful notes/sidegrades (watch the video for more in-depth explanation of choices):

  • Dragonhide honor bracers are potentially better than the leather honor versions, particular if playing rogue/healer
  • Insidious Bands are a really good bracers alternative if you want to swap out resi for atk stats
  • Rings are a bit of a free for all with having 3 potentially really good rings to choose from (I don’t think you can really go wrong with having any 2 out of the 3 – Stormrage/Eternal Champ/Deceitful Intent)
  • JC panther trinket is still good and can be sidegraded based on preference/situation vs. Bloodlust Brooch
  • Thalassian Wildercloak is still really good if you can’t pick up a Shadowmoon Destroyer’s Drape
  • A lot of these pve off pieces are going to be super contested, so it’s unlikely to see many rogues reaching this level of BIS (especially if you’re already glaives prio)

Useful notes/sidegrades (watch the video for more in-depth explanation of choices):

  • Belt of deep shadow is still really good and can be used instead of vindicator’s leather belt if you want more offensive stats
  • Deathblow engy goggles are still good and a solid alternative to glad helm
  • JC panther trinket is still good and can be sidegraded based on preference/situation vs. Bloodlust Brooch
  • Ring of deceitful intent has almost no competition so should be easy pickup if you raid at all + ring of eternal champion is a freebie from reputation

F.A.Q – Engy/JC/Gemming Questions

Edit – Blizzard just announced engy belt will no longer be usable in arena, so obviously ignore what is said about engy belt below.

If you play double dps 2s, engineering is still bis by a mile because invul belt is stupidly overpowered in double dps (you will never swap it out). Blue hyper-vision goggles are also still clutch in certain comps vs. enemy rogue teams. It’s very situational there (although if you somehow get a cursed vision then the giant dps upgrade may be worth trying to adapt to using them instead).

Jewelcrafting is still good, but the advantage is a lot less if you don’t play double dps/don’t care about the stealth advantage (eg. rogue/healer players are more open to swapping out panther trinket). A lot of rogue/healer teams are using Brooch in pvp.

Swapping JC to enchanting is honestly not a bad choice in p3 for the ring enchants if you don’t play double dps, but it’s more of a sidegrade/situational thing. JC will also be popular again in a later phase with pve neck + epic trinket coming, so swapping back and forth for minor sidegrades isn’t super worth imo.

Yes and no. Just like the above question, it depends on your comp. Double dps still very much cares about the stealth advantages when opener is so important, but if you play rogue/healer then the dps/survivability loss from using the old stealth boots isn’t really worth it in my opinion.

In particular, if you manage to pick up Shadowmaster’s Boots the dps difference starts to be a lot bigger than the old honor boots vs. stealth boots decision.

This is a very preference based thing, but in general most would go agility now because it’s more versatile and good for everything. You can play in any comp and agi gives you balanced stats vs. just gemming straight atk power and losing all the survivability stats.

I could see someone who exclusive plays double dps 2s still gemming heavy atk power, but that’s a more niche situation. The +24 atk power gem from JC is still great though and I’d still use 1 of those even if I was aiming to gem +agi (assuming you’re JC).

Resilience vs. hit/agi gems is another preference based thing. You typically need 2 yellow gems to activate your meta socket, so regardless you will need to throw in 2 yellow gems somewhere.

Personally I prefer hit/agi yellow gems, particular as a double dps player, but I could see some people gemming the +10 resilience depending on if they play a more sustained fight comp/playstyle.

Note: Full warning in some gear setups you might overcap hit, the bis list uses 2 +5 hit/+5 agi gems just as a standard to meet meta requirements, but you’d be free to change them to non hit if you were overcapping.
